This was my first completely solo project where I filmed and edited everything myself. As an editor, it really helped that I already had a clear idea of what I wanted to capture, which made filming more intentional. Each time I edited, I could instantly see ways to improve for the next event.

After finishing, I asked a cinematographer to look over my footage and give me some feedback. He helped me adjust my settings and shared a few filming tips that made a big difference. I’ve already learned a lot, and I’m excited to film again. Every shoot teaches me something new.

The first two videos were for the same 60th birthday celebration, and the third was for a 90th birthday party. Each one had its own energy and vibe, which made it fun to experiment with storytelling again.

This was the first event I filmed, and it’s still my favorite edit. I spent the most time on this one, really shaping the story and including the speeches since I knew they wanted a longer, more personal video. I used the live performances as the soundtrack to give it a music video feel. It came out great and the client loved it.

I followed a similar style to the first one, but this party was much bigger, so I had more room to test myself. I loved how this one turned out, and so did the client.

This event was a little different, so I had to pivot my approach. There were no live performances, so I researched songs that would feel familiar and meaningful to a 90-year-old audience. It was a challenge but also a chance to get creative with storytelling through sound and visuals.
