Anchor

Bio:

As the semester drew to a close, I had the exciting opportunity to anchor the final show of the season for VCU Insight. As someone who had been involved in the program for a while, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement leading up to the big day. But as soon as the cameras started rolling, I was in the zone.

Luckily, everything seemed to fall into place. I was able to read off the teleprompter smoothly and naturally, and I felt like I was really connecting with the audience.

And then, just like that, it was over. We had managed to get the entire show done in one take, and I was thrilled with how it had turned out. As we wrapped up, I could feel a sense of accomplishment washing over me. I had worked hard to get to this point, and it felt great to be able to anchor a show that I could be proud of.

Looking back on the experience, I feel like I learned so much. Being an anchor is about more than just reading off a script - it's about engaging with your audience and bringing the news to life. And while there were certainly moments of nervousness, I also found that there was a real rush to being in front of the camera. The following week I was asked to return as the first ever technical director for the upcoming semester.
