Bio:
In collaboration with Afro Tech reporter Shanique Yates, I had the opportunity to work on an exciting project featuring an interview with Jamila Norman from HBO's "Homegrown." My role as a video editor involved creating two engaging social media reels: one highlighting the interview itself and another recapping the overall trip. Shanique gave me creative control, allowing me to showcase my skills and vision for the project.
Using Adobe Premiere Pro, I skillfully edited the footage, incorporating color correction and audio editing techniques to enhance the visual and auditory aspects of the reels. To ensure a seamless viewing experience, I added transitions between clips, creating a cohesive flow. I meticulously selected the best moments from the interview and overall trip footage, capturing the essence of the experience.
In addition to my video editing expertise, I also ventured into graphic design to enhance the project. I created polaroid's, allowing Shanique to incorporate the pictures she took during the trip into the video, adding a personal touch and visual appeal.
The end result was a captivating social media reel that showcased the interview with Jamila Norman, capturing the essence of the trip and highlighting the importance of Black women cultivating the land. Shanique chose the overall trip recap reel, which perfectly encapsulated the experience. The caption accompanying the video encouraged viewers to learn more about the visit to @patchworkcityfarms and to watch Jamila Norman's "Homegrown," now available for streaming on HBO Max.
It was a pleasure collaborating with Shanique Yates on this project, and I am proud of the outcome we achieved together. This experience underscores the power of teamwork and the ability to create impactful content that resonates with audiences.
